Late last year the Austria-based synth project Ivur got in touch to ask about the possibility of doing a remix of one of their tracks. Ivur was started as a project during the period of the coronavirus lockdowns by well-known underground synth/wave/italo DJ Mr. Urns, who had been gracing dancefloors across Europe for at least a couple of decades and only in the last five years has taken it up to take his vast knowledge of these genres to write his own music. The project was then picked up by the prolific label Young & Cold from Augsburg DE which resulted in two EPs: Alpha (2022) and Beta (2024) which in turn were combined in a vinyl LP release called Gamma later that year. 2024 also the project premiere itself live, with Mr. Urns being joined live on stage by multi-instrumentatist Ferenc of the Austrian duo Touch By Touch, resulting in the project expanding into a duo that’s now currently writing further new music.
Having been friends with Mr. Urns for many years on the European festival circuit, the track “Fire” from the Beta release was chosen, subtly morphing the track in more of a textured, motorik vibe while retaining the arrangement and vocals that make the track what it is. This new version is now to be included on the forthcoming Gamma Remixes I release which will be out officially on 23rd October 2025.
