The first video from When Push Comes To Shove has premiered on Post-Punk.com, for the track “Taking Off The Edge” which is the first track off the album and also available as a FREE (or pay as you want) digital single. This video was produced with Glasgow visual wizard Georgina Penstkart, as part of a ongoing collaboration on video projects.
Trying something different, there were far less computers used in the creation of this video. All of the textures and illustration effects were shot with real objects, including some live drawing. The clips were then edited digitally and then processed through Penstkart’s analogue video gear, including a modular analogue video synth. Totally DIY on a minimal (read: no) budget but that’s the way I like to do things.
Avant-garde audio-visual synth virtuoso Jack Dkwrth, under his nostalgia-soaked guise Soft Riot, has debuted his video for “Taking Off The Edge”, a track culled from his new album When Push Comes To Shove out on November 11th, 2019 through in-house label Possession Records.
“Taking Off The Edge” is a bubbly foray into a synth´ and colour saturated parallel universe, infused with shimmering horns, and spastic metallic sounds, sonically showcasing Soft Riot as being a vessel from which the quirkiness of late-night television programs such as the much-lauded Night Flight lives on.
