The first official “music video” for the forthcoming album The Outsider In The Mirrors premieres today on post-punk.com. It is the second video from the album, the first being a informational film about the album as if it were set in some alternate dimension.
The first video from the latest Soft Riot album is a hallucinatory one; reflecting JJD’s personal take on the anxieties of urban living and existing a media-saturated world. It is a technicolour, moving patchwork of Soft Riot’s visual style established in the artwork of his back catalogue but also a satire of the world of television; a fractured “Network 23”-style cable access channel in that might exist in some parallel universe not to far from the absurdity of our own, right down to the channel idents and fake television commercial that bookend the video.
The album is officially out a week from today on Possession Records. You can pre-order direct from the Possession
